WHEN

The conference will begin with a reception on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 6:30 pm and on Sunday, April 6, 2008 around 2 pm. Check-in will be from 6-6:30 pm on Friday, and 7:30-9 am on Saturday.

WHERE

Join us in the “Mile High City”, Denver, CO, for a weekend with your fellow peace-builders!

The Conference will take place at Mi Casa Resource Center, 360 Acoma St., Denver, CO. (Click HERE for a map to Mi Casa.)

The closest airport is Denver International Airport. We will be coordinating transport to/from airport as needed (contact us).

Final location details will be sent electronically to all conference participants.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The city of Denver, surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains and boasting of an average 300 days of sunshine, hosts a weekend with leaders in the field of peace and conflict studies. Join us for informative workshops, leadership training, networking, and inspirational speakers.

Breakout sessions will occur throughout the weekend on the DOP legislation, state strategy and planning, and the Student Peace Alliance. Trainings will be held in NonViolent Communication; Peer Mediation; Peace Education and Restorative Justice. (Preview a copy of the Conference Agenda.)

LODGING

Rooms are available at a discounted rate at the Marriott TownePlace Suites, just 2 blocks north of our conference facility. Suites are $84/night and sleep 3-6 people. Call 800-257-3000 and ask for the Department of Peace conference rate. Please book by March 7th.

FOOD

Friday night’s wine and cheese reception, Saturday and Sunday breakfast, and Saturday lunch is included in your registration. Vegetarian options will be provided. Several good restaurants and fast-food places are in walking distance.

The conference program fee covers registration packet, conference organization and facilitation, inspirational speakers, informational workshops, contact information for future state/regional planning & networking, and live musical entertainment!

EARLY REGISTRATION offers a $10 discount on the program fees.

Conference fees are: $25 students/ $50 by March 20th/ $60 at the door.
